The Cabinet
The State Government consists of the Minister-President and eight line ministries. A coalition comprising the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) and the Left Party is in office for the current legislative period (2021 to 2026). The SPD provides the Minister-President with six Ministers, while the the Left Party holds two cabinet posts.
The cabinet consists of:

- Minister of the Interior, Building and Digitalisation Christian Pegel (SPD)
- Minister of Justice, Gender Equality and Consumer Protection Jacqueline Bernhardt (Die Linke.)
- Minister of Finance Dr. Heiko Geue (SPD)
- Minister of Economics, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour Reinhard Meyer (SPD)
- Minister for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and the Environment Dr. Till Backhaus (SPD)
- Minister of Education and Daycare Facilities for Children and Deputy Minister-President Simone Oldenburg (Die Linke.)
- Minister of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs Bettina Martin (SPD)
- Minister of Social Affairs, Health and Sports Stefanie Drese (SPD)
