Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has become an attractive and competitive investment location. The state is situated in the middle of the dynamic Baltic Sea region, connecting Central Europe with the Baltic States and Scandinavia. Major corporations have established operations in the state.
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern investors benefit from fast approval processes, modern infrastructure and access to well-trained and motivated professionals. The A20 “Baltic Freeway” (Ostsee-Autobahn) has further strengthened the state's position as a business location, while the A14 autobahn between Schwerin and Magdeburg will create a valuable link between the production, trade and commerce areas of the Northeast and the growth centres of the South. The state also boasts modern ports.

Efforts are being made to create additional jobs in the industrial and service sectors, including agriculture and food industries, renewable energies, the healthcare sector, the maritime industry, skilled trades and the automotive and aerospace industries.
Digitalisation represents a major opportunity for the state: There are six digital innovation centers at the university locations of Greifswald, Rostock, Stralsund, Wismar, Neubrandenburg and the state capital Schwerin. These support start-ups, but also provide guidance to established companies. In addition, start-ups and companies from various industries are encouraged to network with scientists and other interested people to develop the digital innovation area Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
