The tourism, agriculture and food industries have strong traditions in the state, as does the maritime sector, whose ports have made Mecklenburg-Vorpommern into an important transport and logistics hub. The main sunrise industries are the healthcare sector and renewables, a field in which the state plays a pioneering role in Germany.

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern investors profit from fast approval processes, modern infrastructure and the availability of well-trained and motivated professionals. The A20 “Baltic Freeway” (Ostsee-Autobahn) has further strengthened Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as a business location. And the new A14 autobahn between Schwerin and Magdeburg will create a valuable link between the production, trade and commerce areas of the Northeast and the growth centres of the South. There are also modern ports and an efficient railway network.
