Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has developed into an attractive and competitive business location. The state is located in the dynamic Baltic Sea region, connecting Central Europe with the Baltic States and Scandinavia. Major corporations such as Nestlé have settled here. The number of unemployed has decreased significantly in recent years. Graduates have very good chances of finding training places.

The economic policy of the state strengthens traditional and fosters new industries. What is traditionally strong in the state are the tourism, agriculture and food sectors along with the maritime industry. The latter includes the ports which have made Mecklenburg-Vorpommern an established transport and logistics hub. The main industries of the future include the health sector and renewable energies, sectors in which the state plays a leading role nationwide.
