More and more people are discovering Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as an attractive place to live, work, study and spend their holidays.

Every year the clean air, crystal-clear lakes and mile after mile of sandy beaches captivate tourists and residents alike. Nearly 20 per cent of the total land area – more than any other German state – is protected as natural landscapes: the three national parks, three biosphere reserves and seven natural parks have their own rules for ensuring sustainable relationships between humans and nature.

However, the state is much more than simply Germany’s most popular summer travel destination: it also boasts a diverse cultural landscape, outstanding degree courses at internationally distinguished universities and an increasingly successful economy that attracts internationally well-known companies.

Furthermore, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a child- and family-friendly state, has been a forerunner in the transition to renewable energy and is striving to become Germany’s number-one region for healthcare.

Overall, 94 per cent of the residents rate the state’s development since German Reunification as good or very good (MV-Monitor 2015).
