More and more people are discovering Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as an attractive place to live, work, study and spend their holidays.
Every year the clean air, crystal-clear lakes and mile after mile of sandy beaches captivate tourists and residents alike. Nearly 20 per cent of the total land area – more than any other German state – is protected as natural landscapes: the three national parks, three biosphere reserves and seven natural parks have their own rules for ensuring sustainable relationships between humans and nature.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany’s most popular destination for summer and family travel, has experienced strong economic growth and attracts internationally well-known companies. Investors value the fast approval processes, modern infrastructure and favourable geographic location in the Baltic Sea region with close proximity to the metropolitan areas of Hamburg, Berlin and Szczecin.
Over the past several years, the unemployment rate has fallen by more than 50 percent. School-leavers have excellent chances of finding apprenticeships. Many companies are hiring qualified professionals.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern also has a lot to offer families, from good schools and high-quality daycare facilities for preschoolers to attractive recreational opportunities. Even more jobs with fair wages and good conditions for employees are being created and secured. The state is supporting this development by continually improving its conditions for business.
